Between Two Lakes, 2019-2020
Between Two Lakes is a photo and installation piece which attempts to capture my experience of summer through the recontextualization of images as memories. The project began in the summer of 2019, when my friends and I travelled from Montreal to a cherry farm situated between two lakes where we lived and worked. During this summer, I documented the experiences of our everyday life through photographic images, capturing my friends, the space we lived in, and what we did. The project began as a documentation of personal experiences, but soon became a commentary on how and why we remember - what resonates with us. I found that through suspending the context of the images, it created an open experience, untied to a specific space or time creating a sense of ambiguous landscape utopia.
